A taste of the Telemark Canal!
Join in on a cruise down the Telemark Canal from Ulefoss and experience a taste of beautiful nature, history, and local food in one day.
From Ulefoss locks you board one of the veteran ships.
The ship will take you up the canal and while in the locks you get to see the lock guards in action opening and closing the massive lock doors, an attraction you will find only here.
This trip takes you through the Vrangfoss lock system, the largest flight of locks in the Telemark Canal.
The journey up the historic waterway will give you panoramic views of beautiful scenery.
In Lunde you disembark and takes the canal bus back to Ulefoss locks.

* Once you disembark from the bus at Ulefoss locks, you must follow the road leading to the parking lot and continue along the sidewalk headed to Ulefoss center.
You will arrive at Øvre Verket in approx. 10 minutes when walking.
You can also choose to take your car.
There is a parking lot at Øvre Verket as well.
Practical information during the canal cruise:
Parking:
It is approx. 25 minutes to drive from Bø Hotell to Ulefoss locks.
While driving from Ulefoss center, the parking lot is reached about 200 meters before the locks.
It is marked with a parking sign (a large “P”) and the symbol for the Telemark Canal (a boat in a lock).
There is a short walking distance to the bus stop, about 100 meters.
Meals on board:
There is a restaurant on board M/S Henrik Ibsen and M/S Victoria.
It is possible to prebook lunch with your tickets.
You can also order food directly at the boat from their menu without prebooking.
If you book tickets for 10 persons or more, we recommend that you prebook meals on board.
It is not possible to book a table for the entire journey, and you can’t bring your own food on board.
M/S Telemarken has a cafè, and it is not possible to prebook meals.
Bus:
The canal bus is limited only to our guests and is a tour bus.
It stops 100 meters from Ulefoss lock and at Lunde the bus stop is located approx. 200 meter from the lock.
Dogs are not allowed, except for guide dogs.
Practical information about Øvre Verket: (Overskrift)
Parking:
You can park your car at Øvre Verket free of charge.
There is limited parking space.
You can also park next to Ulefoss Fire station.
Dining:
At Spiseriet Restaurant at Øvre Verket you will be served a 2-course menu, included one beverage (choose between a glass of wine, beer, or mineral water).
Child menu consists of pommes frites with hot dog or chicken nuggets, juice, and an ice cream.
Guided tour:
The guiding takes about 30 minutes.
Øvre Verket is a collection of listed workers’ housing that offers a gift shop, exhibitions, and local crafts.
Ulefoss is known as the oldest industrial site in Norway, and during your tour you will hear about what it was like for a worker at Ulefoss Jernværk to live here, amongst other things.

Rate:
Adult from 16 years: From NOK 1500,- to 1670,- per adult.
Children 4-15 years: From NOK 630,- per child.
Children 0-3 years: NOK 185,- per child
