Elsewhere, the area around the hotel offers a wide range of attractions, cultural life and nature experiences. If you're out hiking, cycling or perhaps paddling along the canal, you'll find natural and cultural gems everywhere you turn. We can also mention the Vest-Telemark museum with its exhibitions, village farm and activity park. The beautiful Eidsborg stave church from 1250 and, not least, Åmdals Verk Gruver with a mine tour and geology exhibition.

Soria Moria Sauna

Soria Moria Sauna at the end of Dalen Hotel's garden, designed by Feste Landskap/Arkitektur, is surrounded by dramatic scenery and stunning views of Bandak. The sauna has received a lot of international attention, has won several awards and is very popular.

For our guests, we offer a reservation in Soria Moria Sauna with our Spa Kit from Babor. It includes a peshtemal, scrub brush and selected exclusive products for face and body that will enhance your sauna experience. The time is exclusively reserved in Soria Moria for up to 10 hotel guests.

NB! If you wish to experience Soria Moria, this must be booked well in advance to ensure your reservation.

Our great pride and joy, the veteran ship M/S Henrik Ibsen, welcomes you aboard one of Norway's most beautiful water journeys on the Telemark Canal. The ship from 1907 is extremely well preserved and has capacity for 99 passengers, and runs daily traffic up and down the canal's 105 km long waterway with its 8 lock systems.

Wherever you decide to embark, you will experience a magnificent, varied and unique landscape on your voyage. Narrow lakes, large waters, animals out on their summer grazing, small farms, bridges, dock life and, not least, authentic lock art as it has been practiced for over 130 years.

On board M/S Henrik Ibsen, first-class service is offered, whether you are on the promenade deck or in the aft lounge. You will be served a fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner with drinks if you wish.

The arboretum at Dalen Hotel®

In the hotel's garden there is a large collection of rare trees and shrubs that are carefully numbered. A map of the arboretum with explanations, as well as Norwegian and Latin names, can be obtained from the hotel reception.

An arboretum is a collection of trees and shrubs grown outdoors for the purpose of research, teaching and testing plants in our climate. At the same time, it should be a source of pleasure, provide nature experiences and stimulate increased interest in science and botany.

Dalen has flora that you often don't see elsewhere in the country. The climate here in spring and summer means that it grows well and is so warm that the hotel can even grow grapes.
